Boston Rock Opera was founded in 1993 to bring together a diverse mix of musicians and artists and present original productions of rock operas, concept albums and evenings dedicated to narrative song. The company’s original stagings of both well known and premiere works were enthusiastically received by audiences and critics. The company produced 10 years of active seasons, from 1993-2003.

Former members of Boston Rock Opera have continued to perform and celebrate the rock opera genre but the company suspended producing seasons of new work in 2003. As of 2010, the company is dissolved, no longer operates as a 501c(3) non-profit corporation and does not solicit donations from the public.

The website remains on-line and is dedicated to projects and community Boston Rock Opera helped foster.
